Step 1

Get Started

Apply today! Our staff will work with you to chart your course to become a certified teacher!. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher  from a regionally accredited institution in any major, possess a 2.70 GPA or higher, submit official transcripts, a resume and complete a video or phone interview.

Begin Coursework

In total, candidates are provided up to 433 hours of comprehensive curriculum in the following areas:  

  • Planning and Building

  • Child Development

  • Family and Community

  • Instruction

  • Differentiated Instruction

  • Assessment and Evaluation

  • Classroom Management

  • Diverse Learners

  • Teaching Methods

Additionally, we also offer courses in Restorative Practices.

#T.E.A.C.H.!

During your first year, the residency year, you will gain significant experience as a certified classroom teacher. However, you

won't be alone!

 

Instructional Coaches work side by side with all Residents by providing targeted, individualized, on-going training, mentoring and in-classroom support.

Full Certification

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, including one academic year of teaching with successful evaluations, your Residency License will convert to a North Carolina Professional Licensure !
